Monday night, April 26, 1993 three hours before he was to perform at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, Andre Watts cancelled his performance due to illness.

“ And so Watts gave the opportunity of a lifetime to a 21-year-old pianist. His name is Meng-Chieh Liu.”

And that night a star was born.

- 2003 -

Ten years later, Meng-Chieh Liu’s list of accomplishments, challenges and heroic triumphs has inspired a television biography on his life story. An Avery Fisher Career Grant Recipient and winner of numerous awards, Liu tours nationally and internationally to standing ovations and critical acclaim.

His 2003-2004 performance schedule included tours of Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Bulgaria and Spain in addition to his domestic concert appearances in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Seattle and San Diego. This season he will tour extensively in Central America, Japan and Taiwan and make recital debuts in Los Angeles and Boston.
